Mix it up a little: try a new holiday this year

The world is huge, and whilst you might not fancy visiting certain places the globe has to offer, that shouldn’t stop you from exploring the places that do intrigue your travel mind.

Too many of us return to the same place time and time again, basically because it offers us familiarity, we know we can kick back and relax, and basically we know exactly what we’re getting for our hard-earned cash. Whilst this isn’t a bad thing if you’re just looking for a cheeky week away somewhere to forget your cares, if it stops you from ever trying anywhere new, well, you’re seriously missing out.

I speak from experience because I used to return to Marmaris in Turkey time and time again. Whilst I still love the place and will return again, I eventually realised that I didn’t get excited anymore, and that when you think about it, you should feel that excitement when you head off on holiday, no matter where you’re going. This lack of butterflies is what has pushed me to try other places, and I’m really glad I did.

This realisation doesn’t mean you can’t return back there, and it also doesn’t mean that you can’t head back there yearly if that’s what you want, but try and mix it up with another week somewhere else too – the best of both worlds, familiarity and exploration.

Working up the courage to try a new holiday isn’t the easiest of things, because we mentioned the world is huge, so where do you fancy? Narrowing it down is the hardest thing! Wherever you choose, grabbing a bargain is important, as well as cutting costs on the other parts of your holiday, such as how you get from home to the airport.

I drive every single time now, because I find the stress-free approach much better for me, and it ticked the money saved box when I booked through Park BCP. No matter where you decide to fly from you’ll find a service to suit your needs, such as great value Heathrow Terminal 5 Parking for that wide range of winter flights, if you’re trying to grab some winter sun amidst the grey-skied gloom!

If you can cut costs here and there, you’ll find yourself much more open and receptive to that new destination you’re thinking of, no matter how odd it seems at first. You might be thinking it sounds strange to describe going on holiday somewhere different as feeling odd, but when you’re used to one particular place, it can feel a little nerve-wracking to go somewhere totally alien, where you don’t know anyone, or where the best places are.

The best way to deal with this? See it as a positive!  A clean slate means you can meet new people, discover new favourite bars and restaurants, and explore the beauty of a different place – you never know, you might end up finding a new resort that you love even more than your usual one.
